The significance of

The Pomegranate Fruit

Love & Fruitfulness

granaat

The pomegranate has the most incredible symbolic meaning.  The Hebrew word for pomegranate is “Rimmon”.

The pomegranate is firstly mentioned in Exodus where it was resembled on the ephod of the High Priest who went into the Holy of Holies.  It was the only fruit entering into the Holy of Holies.  In our worship we can enter into that intimate place of worship, which also resembles the chambers of our loving Bridegroom.

The pomegranate is repeatedly mentioned in the book of Song of Songs.  It reveals the exclamation of God’s love and passion and His yearning for intimacy with His bride. (Songs 4:3 /4:13 / 6:7 / 6:11 /7:12 /8:2).

The pomegranate is the most attractive fruit, but its true beauty is only revealed when it is fully ripe and it bursts open.  The true character of Jesus was only revealed when His final act of love was revealed.  The moment His body was ripped open, was the moment His true love and beauty was revealed.  Also in return when the bride becomes transparent (like the red pits of the pomegranate) her true beauty and character is revealed.

The pomegranate also represents the fruitfulness and abundance of the Promise Land.  The spies brought the fruit to the Israelites as a sign of fruitfulness and abundance, after the dwellings in the wilderness. The pomegranate is the reward of embracing the wilderness. (Deut 8:7~8).  The bride learns to lean on her Beloved while in the wilderness.

The pomegranate brings a new joy after joy has withered (Joel 1:12) and with that the renewing of a covenant with God which brings His blessings and abundance.  (Hagai 2:19).

Are you in a place of wilderness?  Then know that God actually brought you to a place of intimacy, a place where He can speak to your heart (Hosea 2:14).  Let God reveal His true beauty and character to you, so that you can become transparent before Him and become the fragrance of the pomegranate to others by bringing them the true character of God – LOVE and FRUITFULNESS!

Soene van God

Profetiese Woord - Jessica van der Walt - Jul 2008

Kisses

Son 1:2  Laat hy my kus met kusse van sy mond;

Son 5:16      His words are kisses, His kisses words.  Everything about him delights me., thrills me through and through!
